Mater has developed procedures to manage the transmission of information via email in accordance with advice from the Office of the Australian Information Commission. As part of these procedures, Mater now uses secure email which offers enhanced protection for emails that contain personal, sensitive or health information.
It has been another big year for Mater as we genuinely work together to align our ministries and work collaboratively with our partners to exceed the expectations of our consumers.
As part of the advanced epilepsy team at Mater Centre for Neurosciences, Peter Jones has been involved in many firsts: Queensland’s first Stereotactic EEG (SEEG), Australia’s first surgery for epilepsy using a robot, Queensland’s youngest SEEG patient and Australia’s first laser ablation for epilepsy.
Mater Group marked an important milestone last month, the launch of a new brand to reposition Mater as a group incorporating health, education and research for a healthy community.
Recently, the 5th Brisbane Cancer Conference (BCC) was held at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
This year, Mater Research—a recognised leader in medical research with a key focus area in cancer biology—was involved with a number of Mater people involved in chairing workshops and presenting throughout the course of the conference. These Mater people spanned from students right through to clinicians, including Mater Senior Researcher Professor John Hooper.
