Mater’s Private Breast Cancer Centre provides expert assessment, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and advice for people of all ages with breast cancer disorders and problems of the breast.

Mater has earned a reputation for excellence in the provision of breast cancer care with centres located at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Redland.

The Breast Cancer centre uses a multidisciplinary team approach to breast care that involves a pre-surgical, intra-operative, post-operative, and post discharge perspective to ensure patients are provided with a high level of expert care.

The skilled and highly respected team includes leading specialist breast surgeons, plastic and reconstructive surgeons and a high calibre support team involving medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, breast care nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists.

Women who require surgery are cared for by experienced breast care nurses who provide emotional, practical and social support to patients and their families, before admission, during hospitalisation and after discharge.

Breast Care Centre offers

• A priority referral system ensures patients have rapid access to specialist surgeons for urgent problems, urgent cases can be seen within 36 hours.
• Regular consultation with a patient’s GP to coordinate medical requirements and support services.
• Breast care nurses can be accessed by appointment or as a ‘drop in’ resource.
• Breast imaging and diagnostic services Breast imaging and diagnostic services.
• Breast shoulder and lymph care therapy is available through the visiting occupational therapist at inpatient level and as a post-discharge service.
• Support programs and information brochures, booklets and DVD resources are available to help women through their experience.
