Dr Christopher Corney appointed Director of Internal and Perioperative Medicine

Dr Christopher Corney has joined Mater as the newly appointed Director of Internal and Perioperative Medicine effective on Monday, 27 April 2020.

Dr Corney is a highly regarded Physician VMO at both Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Springfield where he is acknowledged by staff, patients and families as an excellent physician and collaborative team member.

Since 2018, Dr Corney has also held the leadership position of Deputy Director of Medicine at Ipswich Hospital where he has championed a number of innovative models of care and patient outcome measures.

He has maintained a strong focus on medical education having been the Director of Physician Education at Ipswich for the last several years and also the Deputy Head of School at the Greenslopes Private Hospital clinical school within the University of Queensland Medical School.

It is a welcome time for Dr Corney to be expanding his involvement at Mater to include Mater Hospital Brisbane and we look forward to the leadership, clinical skills, research and education acumen that he will bring to this role.  The combination of his public and private roles will see him have a full-time presence at Mater.
