Dr Paul Peters trained in cardiothoracic surgery in London at the Royal Brompton Hospital and the London Chest Hospital, undertook a fellowship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and worked as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at St. Batholomews Hospital in London and the London Chest Hospital before moving to Australia.
He consults and performs thoracic surgery at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, and has been consultant in cardiothoracic surgery at PA Hospital since 2004. His practice includes adult cardiac and thoracic surgery.
Dr Peters has interests in the following aspects of thoracic surgery:
• Surgical oncology with management of lung • Chest wall and mediastinal malignancies • Pleural effusion • Recurrent pneumothorax and empyema
Most procedures performed minimally invasively including VATS lobectomy. Thoracoscopic sympathotomy for palmar and axillary hyperhydrosis syndrome is usually performed as day surgery.
