Dr Suresh is an experienced paediatrician specialising in problems affecting the lungs, breathing and sleep in children from birth to adulthood. He has extensive experience in managing children with asthma, coughing, chest infections, cystic fibrosis, snoring, obstructive sleep apnoea and difficulty sleeping.
He is a Senior Lecturer at both the School of Medicine and the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland and has previously served as co-chair of the Sleep and Breathing Program run by the Mater Research Institute (MRI-UQ). He is currently a board member of the Australasian Sleep Association and a member of the overseas trained paediatrician subcommittee of Royal Australasian College of Physicians where he oversees training and assessment.
He has established links with his Alma mater; Stanley Medical College in Chennai India through the STARS in Health Education Foundation, promoting education and awareness of public health medicine.
Dr Suresh’s research interest in sleep medicine includes investigating sleep disorders, development of screening tools for assessing paediatric sleep disorders, assessing treatment outcomes and benefits of non-invasive ventilation and epidemiological perspective of sleep disorders in children.
He also has interests in respiratory research which include clinical management of complicated pneumonias/empyema and understanding adult lung function from a developmental perspective from longitudinal studies.
Dr Suresh admits patients privately to Mater Children’s Private Brisbane and consults privately with Queensland Children’s Lung and Sleep Specialists (Q-CLASS). He is also a Consultant Respiratory and Sleep Paediatrician based at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital.
