Mater Nutrition and Dietetics Services - for public patients

Mater has a comprehensive nutrition and dietetics service available to adult and maternity patients. Please refer to the table below for an outline of services provided.

Patient referrals are triaged according to prioritisation guidelines, and are booked for appointments accordingly. If you have any questions, or for more information, please telephone 07 3163 6000 Monday to Friday, 7.30 am to 4.30 pm.

Referrals for patients can be sent direct to the department via fax on 07 3163 2267.

Women's and maternal health services

  • Women receiving care at the Mater Mothers antenatal clinic will be seen in this service through direct referral only (no external referrals are accepted).

Adult services

  • Gastroenterology, for example coleiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome and liver disease
  • Food allergies and intolerances
  • Nutrition issues encountered during cancer treatments
  • Weightloss required prior to surgery or patients with significant co-morbidities
  • Patients requiring nutrition support - prior to and following surgery
  • Type 2 diabetes management
  • Modified ketogenic diets for epilepsy (must be referred by a Neurologist)
  • For adult weight management and healthy lifestyle coaching, we recommend referring your patients to the free Get Healthy QLD program

 

Mater Health and Wellness - for private patients

For insured, NDIS funded or self-funded patients

To support the demand for nutrition and dietetics services, Mater Health and Wellness dietitians provide private services. Patients will incur a fee for appointments booked with this service.

Staff are recongised providers with private health funds and Medicare, and rebates are available where applicable.
