Mater Medical Imaging provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic medical imaging services at Mater’s South Brisbane campus. They have a team of experienced radiologists providing medical imaging services and every effort is made to ensure the latest technology is used to support patient care.  There is a range of options for referring doctors to easily access reports and images. 

Clinicians from Mater Medical Imaging provide mobile imaging services, theatre imaging and ambulant patient imaging.

Located on level 4 of Mater Hospital Brisbane the team at Mater Medical Imaging provide mobile imaging and operating theatre imaging for

In addition Mater Medical Imaging provide services for all ambulant patients and accept all private referrals. 


Mater Medical Imaging is open Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm for routine imaging and ultrasound services and offers Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) appointments on weekends and until 9 pm on weekdays.

Emergency procedures are available 24 hours 7 days a week.


There is a $180.00 out-of-pocket fee for private Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) referrals and anaesthetist fees apply for private GA examinations.

There is a $30.00 out-of-pocket fee for Computed Tomography (CT) imaging.

All other services are currently bulk billed. 


For patients

All patients must have a written referral from a General Practitioner (GP) or Specialist.  A referral form or a letter can be sent directly to Mater Medical Imaging.  All referrals, including referrals on other provider forms, will be accepted.

For General Practitioner (GP) or Specialist

Mater doctors with access to Verdi are able to send an electronic referral. Alternatively Mater Medical Imaging referral pads are available by request.

All referrals are reviewed and the next available appointment is offered.

For registered users of MaterVue PACS access to online medical images are available by logging onto the portal.

It is important for the team to respond rapidly to requests with fast turnaround of quality reporting and a priority service for urgent requests.

The radiologists at Mater Medical Imaging are available to discuss imaging requirements and interpretation of imaging results with the referring doctor.

Mater Medical Imaging offers a 24 hour service for all emergency referrals.
