Stage 2 upgrade commencing on Mater Private Hospital Brisbane’s operating theatres

Friday 20 November 2020

Mater will be undertaking Stage 2 of the upgrade of the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane (MPHB) operating theatres between 18 December 2020 and 8 February 2021.

During this time, theatres 1-6 will be closed to enable the following works to be completed:

  • new anaesthetic and surgical pendants
  • new wall and floor protection
  • lead lining
  • new ceilings
  • new medical services panels in recovery.

Given there will be a reduction in access to theatres, Mater’s leadership team have worked closely with you and your Practice Managers to understand which VMO’s are planning to take leave during this time. While this has assisted the leadership team to reallocate sessions, further work is now required to accommodate the remaining unallocated lists.

Dr Chris Pyke, Tracey Hutley and Georgia Caulfield will be in contact with you within the next two weeks to understand your theatre requirements and develop a plan regarding your allocated theatre sessions during this period.

We understand the closure of these theatres will cause some disruption and we would like to thank you for your understanding as we work through this rescheduling.

We ask that you please contact Assistant Director of Clinical Services Perioperative and Procedural Services Georgia Caulfield on 07 3163 1008 or 0478 879 130 should you have any concerns.
