Secure electronic messaging for Mater

Mater will soon enable secure electronic messaging for direct referrals to its public outpatient and antenatal clinics to complement the existing fax referral option.

The move to secure electronic messaging is the first step in Mater’s journey towards a more refined and intuitive electronic referral solution that will ultimately incorporate Smart Forms and integration with Health Pathways and standardised referral criteria. 

The new electronic messaging solution will provide GPs and their patients with the following benefits:

• Compatibility with GP practice management software (Medical Director, Best Practice and Genie).
• Faster referrals, acknowledgement receipts and improved efficiency.
• Choice of industry endorsed messaging platforms (Medical Objects and Health Link).

Secure electronic messaging will be available in the coming weeks and will complement Mater’s resources for GPs such as referral guidelines and outpatient clinic waitlist times that provide greater transparency around the referral process.
