Late Night Ward Wanders

Late Night Ward Wanders

Afternoon coffees were had by Mater Health Executive in preparation for late night wanders across the South Brisbane campus to chat to night staff.

Mater Health CEO Sean Hubbard, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Callan Battley, Head of Clinical Support Services Anna Olsen and Chief Medical Officer Clare Morgan were keen to catch up with night staff and see first-hand the fantastic work they do whilst the majority of staff are offsite.

Sean Hubbard said it was an enjoyable evening covering a range of topics and activities.

“We attended safety huddles, had open conversations with the teams, learning how we might improve our systems and processes–all the way through to a ‘wall squat’ in the hallway of birth suites and of course, handing out much needed coffee cards of appreciation,” Mr Hubbard said.

“We were also interested in understanding the unique challenges staff might face during the hours when many support services, both internal and external are not available.

“We will certainly look to do this again soon at South Brisbane as well as Redland and Springfield,” he said.
