New appointment for Mater Cancer Care Services

Mater Health has recently welcomed Dan Axelson to the organisation, in the role of Director of Business for the Cancer Care Services Clinical Stream.

In his new role, Dan is working to increase his knowledge and understanding of how Mater can best deliver holistic patient-centred care, and will work to turn these insights into actions that deliver on the recommendations from the Mater Health Clinical Services Plan which was launched at the end of 2017.

Mater Health Chief Operating Officer Sean Hubbard said he was pleased to have Dan come on board in his new role at Mater, which will see him work closely within the Mater Health Clinical Stream structure.

“We would like to take this opportunity to welcome Dan to the Mater team and look forward to working closely with him on our new and existing initiatives,” said Sean.

“Dan brings to Mater a wealth of knowledge from his previous experience working with major health care providers across Australia.”

Dan has previously worked for PriceWaterhouse Coopers, the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Department of Health, and has held various positions within project management, business, finance and mining.

He began his career in health as a Bookings Officer with an Emergency Department and since then has been fortunate enough to have gained a variety of experience across multiple jurisdictions. Highlights include: completing the financial analysis of and assisting in the development and roll-out of an integrated model of care for 400 new nursing positions across Queensland; leading the introduction of governance principles and Program Management methodologies to a major health infrastructure project within NSW Health; participating in Own Source Revenue capability and process improvement projects throughout rural and remote Queensland; and being responsible for gathering requirements and processes flow documentation across multiple IT projects as a Business Analyst.
