Mater strengthens surgical stream with new appointment

Mater is pleased to advise of the appointment of Maryanne Sinon to the role of Nursing Director– Surgical/Acute Inpatient Services.

Maryanne joined Mater in 1994 as the Clinical Nurse Consultant in the Gynaecology, Urology, Oncology and Palliative Care Ward. Over the last 22 years Maryanne has held various key leadership roles across Mater most recently as Acting Nursing Director Patient Care Units (MPHB) and Acting Nursing Director Surgical/Acute Inpatient Services.

Bringing with her a great deal of enthusiasm, Maryanne has a depth of knowledge and extensive skills in the leadership of nursing teams.

Maryanne said she was looking forward to bringing together best practice from across campus.

“I have worked in a range of different specialities so have a good base and am looking forward to focusing my energies on the surgical stream and having an impact in this area,” Maryanne said.

In her new role, Maryanne will oversee the surgical wards and Intensive Care Units in public and private as well as Mater Children’s Private Brisbane.

“Aside from my new role as Nursing Director Surgical/Acute Inpatient services, I am also undertaking some project work for the Exceptional Every Time strategy around skill mix and nursing ratios, length of stay, private differentiation and also a pilot project on follow up phone calls to patients once they have been discharged.”

“I have lots of plans and am excited to be working closely with the Surgical/Acute stream leads to bring everything together and to share skills.”
