New perioperative and critical care services leadership
Matthew Josey recently commenced as the new Assistant Director of Clinical Services, Perioperative and Critical Care Services at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.

Matt brings extensive experience to the role acquired over two decades and most recently has been Perioperative Nursing Manager at the Gold Coast Private Hospital and Director of Nursing for Surgery and Cancer Care Services at Darling Downs Health.

Matt’s diverse clinical career started at Mater in 1991 as a theatre assistant which then led him to train as a nurse. Matt’s nursing qualifications have allowed him to work all over the world including in the United Kingdom and United States – he also performs volunteer work in Rwanda each year and has participated in many medical missions.

Matt’s role will oversee the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane private theatres (including neurosurgery theatres), endoscopy suites, Cath labs, ICU and the Mater Private Emergency Care Centre.

Matt says that a key factor in his return to Mater is the organisation’s strong Mission and Values and commitment to meeting unmet needs.

“The ethos of the Mater Mission and its history in striving to meet unmet needs was a huge drawcard for me,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to working with our VMOs and supporting them and their patients”.
