Mater North Queensland Accreditation

Mater North Queensland Accreditation

In line with our Mission and Values, Mater is committed to ensuring exceptional standards of patient safety and care are experienced across all Mater services.

The success of this depends on all Mater services and all Mater People—from frontline patient care to support roles to our VMO partners—working collaboratively together to deliver exceptional standards of care, every time.

During the accreditation survey, Mater’s services across the state will be assessed against the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards (second edition).

This will be the first time Mater has been assessed against the second edition of the NSQHS Standards, which have been reduced from the previous 10 standards to eight, with a number of new criteria and actions added.

Accreditation is fast-approaching, with assessors due at Mater Private Hospital Townsville from 31 January to 4 February 2022.

Our organisation has seen significant, robust change over the last 12 months—we have united our services across South East, Central and North Queensland, and witnessed the broader health landscape evolve to meet the demands that COVID-19 has placed on us all.

To assist us in the lead up to accreditation, we engaged the expert counsel of external auditor who facilitated a mock-accreditation that enabled us to identify strengths as well as recommendations for actions.  We are pleased to report that we are on track to perform strongly, which is encouraging as achieving accreditation is an important milestone for Mater as new statewide entity.

Its an important time for us all and I encourage you to look over some of the resources we've put together as well as familiarise yourself with the national standards and what they mean for you.

Thank you for ongoing commitment to Mater.
