Mater Hospital Brisbane Outpatient appointment bookings

Thursday 10 December 2020

Mater Hospital Brisbane has altered its outpatient appointment booking process.

Patients are now offered an appointment via text message 1 week ahead of the available appointment date.

Patients are required to respond to the message or ring the call centre to confirm their appointment time. Patients that do not have a mobile or who indicate they do not want to receive SMSs and those that do not reply are all called by our teams to discuss their care.

This measure has been introduced to ensure our service is able to respond quickly to any changes associated with the COVID19 situation in the South-East Queensland area.

While this change is important for us to ensure service continuity we are very aware that general practitioners may be finding an increase in questions from their patients about their expectations of care here at Mater.

We understand that the shortened appointment notification and confirmation process is a change that might lead to patient and carer concerns about their upcoming care arrangements.

We have detailed patient information available at Mater.org.au including FAQs about the changes.

For more information please contact our GP Priority Phone Line on 07 31632200 or contact the GP Liaison Program Coordinator on 0481002476 or [email protected].
