Mater is committed to the ongoing safety and care of the community during the holiday period. While there are some closures of Mater facilities and services, many services will continue to open over the Christmas-New Year Eve break.

Ambulatory and Outpatients
Closed from 23 December until 12 January inclusive, with the exception of Urgent Category 1, # clinics and post-operative reviews.
Elective Surgery and Endoscopy
Reduced Activity from Wednesday 23 December until Tuesday 12 January inclusive. Emergency surgery, urgent Category 1 activity and obstetric theatres will remain open.
Theatres
Will remain open throughout Christmas/New Year period however it is likely there will be reduced activity from 24 December to 4 January 2021 due to the usual activity plan.
In the weeks from early January to early February, Mater Private Hospital Brisbane theatres will be undergoing theatre refurbishment and activity will be relocated accordingly. Further information will be forthcoming in relation to the plan.
Open throughout Christmas/New Year period however it is likely that there will be reduced activity from 24 December to 4 January 2021 due to the usual activity plan.
Closed from Wednesday 23 December until Tuesday 12 January.
Will remain open. Inpatient areas may merge dependent upon unplanned activity levels.
Mater Private Hospital Brisbane
It is likely that Level 10 (10E & 10N) will merge for two weeks from 24 December to 10 January (representing a reduction in beds from 60 to 30 during this time).
Rehabilitation ARC
Will likely merge across two floors for three weeks from 23 December to 12 January (representing a reduction in beds from 48 to 34 during this time).
Mater Hospital Brisbane 23-hour ward
Closed from 23 December to 12 January. It is likely 9A will merge to 10A at some stage during this period, representing 56 beds across Level 10.
Mater Mothers’ Hospitals Depending on activity, one postnatal ward may close.
Amanda Flynn Clinic
Closed from 24 December to 4 January.
Mater Young Adult Health Centre
Open at reduced activity from 23 December to 12 January. May merge with Mater Children's Private Brisbane if numbers reduce to less than five patients.
Mater Health Centre
Mater Specialist Suites Brookwater will be closed from 22 December to 3 January, returning 4 January 2021.
Closed from 25 December, opening 4 January.
Inpatient wards
IPU 1 to remain open, with IPU 2 to open when activity increases through January.
Mater Cancer Care Centre Springfield
Closed on 25 and 26 December and 1 January 2021.
Day Unit
Closed from 23 December to 4 January.
Closed on 25 and 28 December and 1 January 2021. Minimal staffing between 24 December and 3 January.
Sessional Suites
Mater Private Hospital Redland sessional suites will be closed from 25 December to 3 January, returning 4 January 2021.
Antenatal Clinic
Closed on 25 and 28 December and 1 January 2021. Clinics open on 29, 30 and 31 December 2020.
Maternal Fetal Medicine
Closed Friday 24 December to Monday 4 January 2021.
Closed 25, 26 December and 1 January 2021.
Mater Pharmacy South Brisbane Vulture Street
Closed from Friday 25 December, reopening Tuesday 29 December.
Closed from Friday 1 January, reopening Monday 4 January 2021.
Mater Pharmacy South Brisbane Raymond Terrace
Mater Pharmacy Cancer Care Centre, South Brisbane
Closed from Thursday 24 December, reopening Wednesday 6 January 2021.
