Flexible maternity options at Redland with self-funded maternity package

Redland is the first Mater hospital in Queensland to provide a self-funded private maternity package – which provides pregnancy, birth and post-natal care for mums and babies.

The maternity service at Mater Private Hospital Redland is a great option for mums-to-be who fall into the low-risk category and aren’t covered by private health insurance, and women who fall pregnant before the end of the standard 12-month wait period for private maternity cover.

The package covers routine antenatal visits, expert care for labour and birth (or caesarean section if needed), an anaesthetist and paediatrician as required, two nights in a private room, and follow-up care with the obstetrician and paediatrician.

Mater Private Hospital Redland Executive Officer Carlie Nielsen said the package was great value for women who want to have continuity of care with their obstetrician and midwives.

“We realised there was a big demand for private maternity care from local women who, for one reason or another, were not covered by private insurance,” Carlie said.

“The package has really caught on in the Redlands and the feedback from mums and dads has been fantastic. We love being able to support families through their most special times.”
