GP Shared Care Alignment - Seminar 3

This is the third seminar in the series of dynamic, GP relevant and practical program which was developed following demand to extend the popular Shared Care Alignment program.

This activity is approved for 40 CPD accredited activity points. The interactive and informative programme covering facets from the following broad topics: medical issues, obstetric complications and mental health.

GPs are required to complete Alignment 1 before participating in Alignment 2 or 3, however may do 2 or 3 in any order.

GP Shared Care Alignment - Seminar 2

This alignment program seminar provides a fast paced interactive 6.5 hours education event which continues on from Alignment Seminar 1.

This activity is pending RACGP approval for 40 CPD accredited activity points and covers the following topics: Preconception workup, fertility, diabetes in pregnancy, preterm labour, premature rupture of membranes, ectopic pregnancies, infections in pregnancy, post-partum examinations, breastfeeding and neonatal examinations.

GPs are required to complete Alignment 1 before participating in Alignment 2 or 3, however may do 2 or 3 in any order.

GP Shared Care Alignment - Seminar 1

The education on Saturday 27 February will be delivered via ‘Zoom’. There will be a mandatory PowerPoint that you will be required to view prior to the day (approx. two hours).

The virtual education will run from 8.30 am until 1 pm, with a half hour break and will consist of presentations and discussion with the whole group as well as ‘breakout’ sessions and covers the following topics: First trimester presentations, recommended screening tests, ultrasound scanning including nuchal translucency recommendations, NIPT, gestational diabetes, prescribing in pregnancy, communication with MMH, Rh negative women, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, early pregnancy bleeding, reduced fetal movements, immunisations and depression.

As per all of our Alignment programs, there will be a quiz and evaluation after the day for participants to complete.

From December 2020, GP's will need to complete an Alignment with Metro South Hospital and Health Service if they wish to provide shared antenatal care in the Metro South Health region.

In preparation for the virtual education, we request that you undertake the RACGP Antenatal and Postnatal Shared Care ALM as a pre-requisite.  This course can be accessed through your RACGP account by:

  1. Selecting My Account (top right-hand corner – Gold box)
  2. Selecting “GP Learning 2020” from drop down box
  3. Close pop up box that may appear to welcome you to GP learning – close with X rather than going to dashboard
  4. Searching for ‘Antenatal and Postnatal’ within the Content Library.

For GP’s who are not  members of RACGP.  Please follow the steps below to access this pre requisite activity.

  2. Request access to the gplearning Antenatal and Postnatal shared care accredited activity
  3. Member Services team will assist the GP to gain access to the activity
  4. Cost to non-members $99.00

Overview of activity: This CPD accredited course will help general practitioners (GPs) provide high quality shared care management to their patients in the perinatal period. Shared care involves GP clinical assessment and screening of people who are pregnant. Including the management of patients identified at high risk of pregnancy complications such as diabetes, hypertension and perinatal mental illness. GP management of ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, bleeding and rhesus D management is also discussed.

Once you have completed the RACGP course, please send your certificate of completion to us on mscadmin@mater.org.au prior to the course date and we will be able to progress with your registration for the virtual event.
