Biography

John began working at Mater Hospital Brisbane after graduating as a vascular surgeon in 2004. He has been deeply involved in Mater’s evolution, including as Director of Surgery for several years. He has helped the vascular service to grow and develop its reputation for compassionate, reliable, high quality service.

John has a continuing deep commitment to Mater’s mission and patients. His patients benefit from being at the centre of their own care. His patients’ doctors know they will have his support and trust in helping care for their patients.

John is a graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School. He spent his formative years as a doctor in Queensland country hospitals during which time he enjoyed the close relationship with General Practice, even undertaking a Diploma of Obstetrics as he considered a career in primary care.

John shared the home care of his young family while his wife undertook her General Practice training. Prior to his formal surgical training in Queensland and Melbourne, John completed Master of Medical Science and PhD researching acute vascular injury.
