Dr Khokhar is a consultant gastroenterologist and therapeutic endoscopist and treats problems affecting the gastrointestinal system. Dr Khokhar is a proponent of quality in endoscopy and has completed a fellowship in luminal gastrointestinal endoscopy. His areas of particular interest include prevention, screening and early detection of cancers and precancerous conditions of the oesophagus, stomach, small and large bowel; resection of large polyps in the gut requiring advanced resection techniques (endoscopic mucosal resection- EMR), gastro oesophageal reflux disease, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, eosinophilic oesophagitis and irritable bowel syndrome.

Dr Khokhar employs his well-rounded clinical and communication skills for provision of high-quality patient care and prides in being able to positively influence patients’ lives. In addition to English, he is fluent in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi.

Dr. Khokhar completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2009 in Pakistan. After finishing his internship, he moved to Australia and completed Australian Medical Council (AMC) examinations in 2011/2012. His further training involved four years of physician training in Far North Queensland followed by advanced training in gastroenterology and hepatology in various tertiary hospitals across Queensland including The Townsville Hospital, Sunshine Coast University Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane. He became a Fellow of Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2021 after completing a fellowship year in diagnostic and therapeutic luminal endoscopy at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee hospital.

Dr Khokhar teaches medical students as a senior lecturer affiliated with The University of Queensland.
