The Mater Centre for Maternal Fetal Medicine provides expert diagnosis and management of complex obstetric cases for mothers and their unborn baby who have existing or potential high risk medical concerns.
A comprehensive range of antenatal screening, diagnostic and therapeutic services are available upon referral from a doctor. These include:

Mater Centre for Maternal Fetal Medicine - Private Evening Obstetric Ultrasound Service
The Mater Centre for Maternal Fetal Medicine commenced an evening clinic for routine private obstetric ultrasound on 20 August 2015 to raise funds for research studies. This service runs from 5pm to 8.30pm, fortnightly on a Thursday evening. This clinic is led by Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialist Professor Sailesh Kumar, along with two highly experienced sonographers.
Funds raised from this evening clinic are donated directly to Mater Research.
Referrals for routine morphology scans and first trimester nuchal translucency combined screening only. The costs for these scans are as follows:
All women receive images as well as a formal report. Reports are also sent to the referring doctor.
Fees for all services provided will need to be settled in full on the day. Normal Medicare rebates will apply if eligible.
Referrals for both public and private high-risk women e.g. those with suspected fetal abnormalities will continue to be seen during office hours Monday to Friday. For urgent cases, an MFM Specialist is on-call after hours and is contactable through Mater Switchboard on 3163 8111. Please address all referrals to Mater Centre for Maternal Medicine then fax to 07 3163 1890. It is helpful to remind patients to bring any reports or films performed during the pregnancy to their Maternal Fetal Medicine appointment.
