Dr Euan Walpole received his MBBS with Honours from the University of Queensland’s Faculty of Medicine in 1980 and spent the first four years of his career at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Woolloongabba, Brisbane.
During 1985/86, Dr Walpole spent time as a registrar in haematology and medical oncology at the Peter McCallum Cancer Institute in Melbourne before returning to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where in 1988 he became a locum medical oncologist. During the following years was a visiting fellow in oncology at the Montefiore Medical Centre/Albert Einstein Cancer Center, New York.
Dr Walpole currently holds the position of medical director – cancer services for the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Metro South Health and Hospital Service. He is also associate professor in the Department of Medicine, University of Queensland.
Dr Walpole has held many noted appointments including deputy chairman and acting chairman of the Queensland Cancer Fund Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee, chairman of the Medical Oncology Group of Australia, chairman of Specialist Advisory Committee in Medical Oncology for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians – Specialties Board. Dr Walpole has been highly regarded and widely published over his extensive research career.
