Biography

Dr David Cowley graduated from Edinburgh with BSc (Hons) in 1971 and MBChB in 1974. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Chemical Pathology in 1979 and Fellowship of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia in Biochemical Genetics in 2002. He has worked in research at the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London in 1981 and was subsequently appointed as Director of Chemical Pathology at Mater Pathology in 1982. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Queensland.

Dr Cowley has presented 57 posters and oral presentations in the last 10 years, mainly to the Australian Association of Clinical Biochemists, the Australian Paediatric Endocrine Group and the Australian Society for Inborn Errors of Metabolism. Many of these publications reflect his interest and expertise in biochemical genetics and molecular genetics. He has also published over 60 papers in peer reviewed journals.
