Biography

A/Prof Jane Armes is currently Director of Anatomical Pathology at Mater Health Services, Brisbane, and Senior Clinical Fellow at Mater Medical Research Institute. She qualified in medicine from Nottingham University, UK and completed a PhD at the University of London, before immigrating to Australia in 1990.

A/Prof Armes became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 1992. She is both a diagnostic and research anatomical pathologist, with a special interest in the molecular pathologic aspects of breast, gynaecological and familial cancers. She was Head of Molecular Pathology, Victorian Breast Cancer Research Consortium at Melbourne University for eight years, before moving to Brisbane in 2005. She has been published in many international journals on the molecular aspects of breast and gynaecological cancer.

Her current role as Director of Anatomical Pathology at Mater Pathology includes basic anatomical pathology diagnostics and the application of novel molecular approaches to pathology diagnostics.
