Biography

Dr Wittmann is a part-time staff specialist and Director of Gastroenterology at the Mater Adult Hospital and is the only gastroenterologist at the Mater Adult Hospital practicing interventional ERCP for non-insured patients. His private practice is based at the Mater Private Hospital, South Brisbane. Services provided by Dr Wittmann include endoluminal stenting, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy and general gastroenterology and hepatology care.

With support from the Mater Administration to expand the available range of health care services on the campus, Dr Wittmann established the endoscopic ultrasound service on Brisbane’s South Side and now the public hospital can provide this valuable technology as a cost-effective, patient friendly and tolerable way to biopsy or treat many mediastinal, GI and pancreatic lesions on a day-case basis, enhancing the Mater Health Service’s diagnostic, oncology and research activities.

Dr Wittmann sees private patients at the Mater Private Clinic (Suite 6.01, Level 6), 550 Stanley Street, South Brisbane Q 4101. Privately insured patients can book appointments by telephoning his practice manager on 07 3352 7552 or the receptionist at the medical rooms on 07 3010 5780.
