On 16 November, Mater Private Hospital Brisbane welcomed a new Manager of Interventional Services, Ms Carole Smith.
Ms Smith has an extensive clinical background in procedural services spanning more than 25 years in facilities in Australia and the United Kingdom.
She has worked at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane for the past four years in both perioperative and angiography nursing. Most recently, Ms Smith held the role of Clinical Nurse Consultant, Post Anaesthesia Care and Anaesthesia.
Prior to moving to Australia, Ms Smith worked as a specialist nurse practitioner and perioperative clinical nurse at Morecambe Bay Hospitals National Health Service Trust and anaesthetic, scrub, and scout and recovery nurse at Lancaster and Lakeland Private Hospital in the United Kingdom.
She holds post-basic qualifications in anaesthesia nursing and professional practice, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Health Policy and Management from the University of Central Lancashire.
Mater Private Hospital Brisbane’s Nursing Director Procedural and Critical Care Services, Mr Alan Porritt said he was pleased to welcome Ms Smith to the role and congratulated the staff previously acting in her position.
“Carole picks up the reins from two very capable acting managers, Glenn Ellem (CardioVascular Unit) and Jane Beattie (endoscopy), who have done a remarkable job maintaining the very high standards for these areas,” he said.
